Definition of combing:
Combing:- Combing is a process in cotton yarn manufacturing by removing short fiber neps and other remaining impurities with the help of long steel comb, bottom comb and griper.
Types of combing machine:
There are four type combing machine available-- Rectilinear comber.

Hook fiber:
In cotton the fiber are entangled each other in hook form. But we have the state the fiber to form in linear assembled to make the yarn .In a cotton bulk the hook fiber are remain is three form:-
- More then 50% has trailing hook.
- About 15% have leading hook.
- About 15% have double hook.
Passage diagram of combing process:
Contribution of combing to yarn quality:
- Combing process improve the strength of the yarn.
- Combing process improve the uniformity of the yarn.
- Combing operation remove the neps and remaining dust in the yarn.
- Combed yarn has better twist distribution through out the yarn length.
- Count variation is less in combed yarn.
- Combed yarn improve the next process performance.
- Combed yarn is more clean than card yarn.
